Fungal Nail Infection

Fungal nail disease, medically referred to as onychomycosis, affects approximately 14% of the adult population.Thickening, discoloration, brittleness, flaking and sometimes odour are caused by the Fungi that feed on the keratin in your nails.

Clinically Proven for Effectiveness

Clinical studies conclude that a 1064nm laser is safe, well tolerated and very effective in promoting the growth of clear nails in patients with onychomycosis, with significant improvement after initial treatment. How does laser therapy work?

During the laser treatment a laser beam will slowly be directed across the nail bed. The laser beam will generate a small amount of heat beneath the nail and within the underlying fungal colony. During the procedure, which lasts 1-4 minutes per toenail, you will feel a warm sensation.

How many treatments will I need?

Generally only a few treatments are required. Your podiatrist will monitor your nails progress during and after the treatment process and advise you of what you need to do to minimise reinfection. If your degree of infection is greater additional treatments may be required. You podiatrist will advise you of your requirements.
